All my life, they’ve been a comfort
When life’s chaos dragged me low;
I’d gaze up to see the Smokies
Glistening white with winter snow.
For as long as I remember,
They’ve stood there to testify
That, though life is so uncertain,
They’ll be there until I die.
Like a father or a mother
Giving hugs to ease the pain,
They surround me and protect me;
Inner strength from them I gain.
When I’m feeling sad or lonely
And no one seems to comprehend,
The mountains beckon, I come running,
Climbing up my gentle friend.
All my life, they’ve stood there, waiting
Within my site to comfort give,
Imbuing me with strength and courage
All the years that I shall live.
