My Home in Tennessee

I wish that I could tell you
Of my home in Tennessee,
And describe in perfect detail
The place I love to be.

I wish that I could show you
The thundering waterfalls
That rush down from the mountains
With a glory that enthralls.

I wish that you could walk with me
On a trail that twists and bends
“Til you’re standing, staring outward
Toward beauty that never ends.

I wish you could but gaze upon
A happy, babbling stream,
Or that I could describe to you
A quiet mountain scene.

I with that I could take your hand
And show you all these things:
Lead you up steep mountains,
Down the valleys, by the springs.

You would love these mountains,
The Smokies of East Tennessee.
They surround, protect, and comfort,
And home they are to me.
